Yet another new apartment

20050415 Friday: Moving into our new apartment. Honey supervised the unloading of our goods that were in storage in the morning. We moved the "early out" boxes and items this evening (two carloads).
20050416 Saturday: Out of our temporary housing at Avalon at Bear Creek (Northwest Suites and Housing); no problems, left well before the 1100 checkout time.
I drove to Abbotsford, BC, to pay off the remainder of my student loan (about
800 USD/1100 CAD) at a Royal Bank there. First one was closed but I found one
in a mall on South Fraser Way that was open. Honey didn't come. Stopped at
Tim Horton's on the way out, took home a few boxes of doughnuts.
20050417 Sunday: Honey didn't sleep well; we didn't make it to church.
Later that day we went to Circuit City and picked up a new entertainment system
(Onkyo, which is supposedly a "cut above the cardboard set" (according to my dad, who's an audiophile); separate amp, 6.1 speakers, and DVD player), to replace the Sony DreamStation that died in Boston.
20050418 Monday: Set up renter's insurance with State Farm (required by the leasing company). Logged on to the Speakeasy site so I could follow the progress of our DSL installation; nicely done, has very good detailed information about the progress of the install.
Speakeasy DSL seems reasonable and very tech-oriented, unlike the lowest common denominator providers like Verizon and Comcast. About $55/month for static IP, can run servers, Linux support (or at least non-hostility which is as much as you can ask for these days). It's available; I've ordered it.
We changed our lease from 7 months to 12 months to ensure we can save up enough to put a down payment on a house and pay the required fees at the end (plus we get another half month free).
20050419 Tuesday: Bought some shelves at Fred Meyer (these grocery stores are really getting out of hand...); nice high set, to accomodate our burgeoning library.
The DSL installation is being held up by my telephone number not being in Verizon's CSI (Called Subscriber Identification). I called Verizon, they said wait a few days.
20050420 Wednesday: Happy birthday Emily!
